September 2005 saw the inaugural DGS Overseas Tour. Conceived as an extension to the Ex-Captains event held every year 9 members travelled to the beautiful hotel, Le Manoir de Beauvois on the outskirts of Northampton’s twin town, Poitiers for a 36 hole tournament for the new Ex-Captains trophy, the “Triple S” (Stowe Silver Salver).

Come on Alan look a bit more enthusiastic!

Over the 2 days, our Secretary Brian Dunne emerged victorious, just ahead of Lance Tomlyn, in glorious weather over a pretty if not difficult track. Off the course several members tried hard to further Anglo French relations, praising the libido of French politicians for instance, and Patty showed them what the English have got with what can only be described as a Braveheart pose from the top floor of the hotel – Mange Tous Froggie!
